Bucket list

My sincere apologies for missing last week, friends!  I have been a little unmotivated of late but the warmth of spring is approaching and has renewed my faith in life and joy.  At least until it starts raining 🙂

I have been thinking a lot about making a bucket list lately, so I wanted to share it with you, my faithful companions, and see if you can think of anything wonderful that I should add to it.

Before I die, I want to…

  • Go scuba diving
  • Adopt a dog
  • Weigh less than 200 pounds
  • Be debt free
  • Be a mom
  • Meet the Barenaked Ladies (check, and doing it again in July)
  • Participate in a protest
  • Plant a garden
  • Build something
  • Own chickens
  • Travel to another country (check! but I want MORE)
  • Write a book

Notice that a lot of these things are about experiencing things.  I don’t care if I ever wear a pair of designer jeans or have a custom hand-made purse, but if I miss out on the experiences I want to have, I’ll always be disappointed.  Can you think of anything else?  What’s on YOUR bucket list?

  1. Excellent list! My only suggestion would be to re-conceptualize your goal of ‘weigh less than 200 lbs’ as a fitness goal (‘be fit enough to run x miles without stopping’, etc.). I think it feels more empowering that way. Personally, I refuse to have any goal on my own bucket list that could be achieved through suffering a horrible illness. 😉 Love your blog!

  2. My bucket list is also about experiences: ride a hot balloon, meet 3 news persons each week, Visit Stonehenge, Travel the historic Route 66, See the Northern Lights, Visit a volcano, Sports, Run a 5K and more…

    1. I have actually done a 5k! Dang, I forgot to add it to the list. I didn’t run it, for sure… more like ambled a 5k, but I finished and that’s what mattered.

Stonehenge would also be cool, and I forgot all about my dreams to see the aurora. Thank you for sharing 🙂

  3. You are pretty young to be making a bucket list aren’t you? I like your list, it has none of the materialistic items that won’t enhance your life. I think we are all different, but my list was to hike in the Rockies (check) see all the states (almost completed), see my children grow and start their adult lives (check), swim in the ocean (check but the salt water felt gross), live in the country (check)… I even had skydiving on my list, but at the last minute chickened out.

    1. Never too early to make a bucket list! 🙂

That’s a good list. I haven’t seen very many states… man, I want to travel more. Spain lit a fire I didn’t know was kindling inside me.

      1. I haven’t been overseas, and forgot to mention visiting Ireland and Scotland are on my list. The US has such diverse cultures and land that you could quiet that traveling bug by just wandering the states for now.

      2. I love Colorado. I do have trouble the first few days from the altitude but after that I feel better than I do other places. I learned to eat something regularly and if needed to take a low dose aspirin right before I start the climb and I’m pretty good. Have fun and think of me while you are there.

  4. I’ve got conquer monkey bars and touch toes without bending knees on my list. I also want to learn all the dance moves to Thriller.

    1. I can touch my toes! I’m surprisingly limber for a big girl haha!

I gave up on monkey bars in elementary school, but I feel you on the Thriller dance. That would be awesome.

      1. I can touch my toes too 🙂 Being a bit overweight doesn’t stop me! (A wee bit under 200lbs, but should be more like 150lbs..not gonna happen with all the birthday and Easter chocolate I have been given!)

I’ve not really thought about my bucket list…my main desires at the moment are to live as ‘Eco-friendly’ and chemical free as possible…and to design a knitting pattern that I am pleased with.

Travelling has never been massively high on my list- I have seen a reasonable amount of the UK on family holidays, and other than that have visited France/Belgium, Spain and then Mongolia/South Korea (ten years ago now!). For a lot of my friends, Mongolia sparked a travelling bug, but it didn’t for me..I really enjoyed our time there, but there are not many other places that really appeal.

I can’t work out whether I am content, or unimaginative!

  5. Love your list – awesome goals! And you are so right – it’s never to early to make a bucket list! One of the items on my bucket list is to sail across the Atlantic. Maybe one day… 🙂
